Hi Marilyn,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, maybe someday I will catch up with my email! <(((><

As for my Isaac Wilson Griffin b.about 1800 NC/Tnn. We have No idea of who his folks were or where they came from. We know they were in Tnn. as his oldest 3 children were born there. They next show up in La.(1840 census) where another son was born.
We find them on the 1850 Angelina Co.,Tx. census. Last they are in Dallas Co.,Tx. on the 1860 and 1870 census. They both died in Dallas Co.,Tx.
His wife was known as Elizabeth H.H.. We only know that. Some say they think he may have been married before but no proof. He named his first born child, a son, Newton Cokley Griffin, b.1831 Tnn. His second child was named Jasper, b.1832 Tnn. His last son was named Jacob Josephus Griffin b.1845 La. The girls are named Mary Elizabeth Griffin b.about 1836 Tnn. Possible Martha Griffin b.about 1834 Tnn.
The last 3 children were girls all born Texas, Unice J. b.about 1844, Melissa Texana b.about 1846, and last was Viola b.about 1850. Her birth name was, Andrew Jackson Viola Griffin. I understand that this women may have run a brothel in Dallas Co.,Tx. in the late 1880's to at least 1900.

On every census they name their ages a little differently, some off as much as 6 years. Their have been sons, grandsons and even great grandsons named Isaac Wilson Griffin. It seems as though many of Isaac Wilsons descendants are also named Thomas. Melissa Texana supposedly named her twin sons Thomas and Nicholas. Nicholas was the name of their fraturnal great grandfather, so I wonder if he may have been named for Isaac Wilson Griffin's (The Matriarch) father. As for Wilson we have no idea where that came from. I am stumped and any input you have is welcomed. It has been said that we came from Cork Co.,Ireland, but no proof. Also something about 3 brothers who came to America??

Hope I haven't confused you too much,
Melissa Griffin Jacobs
Washington Co.,Tx.
