Not sure if you found the information you were looking for on Thomas R. Grier, but he was my 4th great grandfather.

He was born in 1817 and died in 1883. He married Margaret Ann Johnson (1823-1891). Her family founded the town of Johnsonville, They are both buried at the Grier cemetery in Johnsonville, SC.
