This just in from Canada and the USA: The Gribbling name in my family, became Gribling and then Griblin. I am trying to sort all this out for a genealogy. Turns out in Europe, primarily France and Germany with some in Netherlands and Belgium. In these countries the name is found to variously be: Griblins, Kreibling, Greibling. A certain person has traced (I don't know how reliable this is) the first mention of the Gribling name to a document in Strasbourg (the village in Germany, not the French city) Germany in the 1300s. Researching with such creative spelling is a challenge I tell you. All the best fellow Gribling/Gribblings! GJ Gribling gribrelate@hotmail.com
