If you wish to email me, I can give you her

I would like to correspond with you. My great-grandparents and their parents came to Oregon over the Oregon Trail in the 1840's with some Gribbles. In fact they are buried together just outside of Canby, Oregon. My e-mail address is mlouj@netzero.net.

According to my records, John Gribble, born about 1770 in Mecklenburg County, NC and his wife Margaret Black, are the parents of John G. Gribble, born June 1799 in Mecklenburg County, NC, died 03 June, 1869 in Clackamas County, Ore. The senior John Gribble married Margaret Black about 1786 and died 1808 in Burke County, NC. They were the parents of Annie Gribble, born about 1807 in NC, died before 1843. They were also the parents of my Great Great Grandfather Ezekiel Gribble, born 09 June 1803 in Burke County, NC; died 12 July 1889 in LaVeta, Colo.

Hi, Donna,

I am descended from Annie Gribble who married Thomas Jefferson Colvard on 08 Dec 1827 in Haywood Co., NC.
I have your John G.'s date of birth as 30 Jun 1799 in Mecklenburg Co., NC. He and Annie were two of ten children born to John & Margaret Black Gribble. I am trying to find the parents of Margaret Black. Do you know who they are?

Karen,
I have no reference in my records as to the parents or siblings of our ancestor, Margaret Black. It is interesting that my Ezekiel's third wife was the widow Rebecca Irwin Black, married June 6, 1867. I'm sure that you know that John Gribble's mother was Sarah Irwin, daughter of William and Sarah Irwin. Do you suppose they were all related?

I wouldn't much doubt that they were related. I am waiting on a reply to a private e-mail. Some of our Gribbles are supposed to have this elusive Margaret Black information. I'll let you know what I find out.

I have some information about Joseph Gribble's son, William S. Gribble. His son William married my great-great grandmother, Nettie (Hobart) Booth. I have a copy of a two-page write up about William's history from the History of Central Oregon, which was published in 1905. If anyone would be interested in a copy, I could mail you one. Melissa
