The oldest clue I have to my ancestry is of a Gribbin who was killed when he fell off a haystack at a place called Rich Hill, probably in Armargh, N. Ireland (1840s?). I also heard of another ancestor who ran a pub in Edinburgh called the Beehive which had been the place where Burke and Hare, the body snatchers, operated. I hale from Newcastle-upon-tyne and know of at least three generations before me who lived there...several williams. My wife susan and I have nine Gribbin children: Anna, Aidan, Catherine, Thomas, Amelia, Sophia, Alice, Martha and John Toby.

William, This is a fascinating story about the body snachers I will check try to check it out.
I am always glad to receive any information on any branch of the Gribbin family but unfortunately there are very few records prior to 1850 when the state registers started. Lots of the church records were destroyed and it was only because of the work of the LDS that so many were saved. I am trying to connect all the family branches. I think I have your address. Does 65 Hedgehope make a connection? My niece Deirdre, the composer lived in NE13 until she married in 1999 My E_mail(tonyjgribbin@eircom.net) or confirm the address and I will write to you. Tony

Jean,
Thank you for contacting me. I have looked through my files but I am unable to find any of the persons that you have listed. I am at present compiling an index of all the Gribbins and their spouses, on my files and, if I find the persons mentioned I will pass them on to you.

Hi Anthony,
I was hoping you may have some information in your index about a Margaret Gribbin who married a Michael Murphy in Limerick around 1845.
These people are my great great grandparents and I am keen to learn anything about them if I can.
Thank you,
Maureen
