Sarah (not MANNING) married John Greenslit c. 1735

Classification: Query
Surnames: Greenslit, Manning, Granger
On a theory that the maiden name of Sarah, wife of John Greenslit (1712-1760), was Sarah MANNING, for over 60 years Greenslit researchers have been trying to find any document proving that she was Sarah MANNING. The marriage record does not exist in published Connecticut vital records.

When and by whom the idea that she was a MANNING first started is unknown, but it has been used by many as a fact, when there has never been a whit of documentation to support the MANNING theory.

Recently (Oct 2011) new information has been received indicating that John Greenslit married Sarah GRANGER. I am waiting to receive a copy of the original document (the will of Thomas Granger, Sarah's father) from the Connecticut Historical Society. When the will arrives and if it clearly states she is Sarah, wife of John Grinslet (sic), I will make a formal announcement that John's wife Sarah has been identified.
