GREALISH Families of Rosmuc
In an attempt to identify extended Grealish connections, I have recorded all Grealish births in the Irish civil records from 1864 to 1913 (less the 19 year gap in the LDS films) in both the Clifden and Lettermore (which includes Rosmuc) registration districts.
I am in need of help in connecting the Grealish families of Rosmuc to each other and to my wife's extended family.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to help? Details of what I now have will be shared with any one who can provide assistance.

Re: GREALISH Families of Rosmuc
Jack,
Yes, I am looking at Grealish families only in the Rosmuc area and adjacent Lettermore and Gorumna islands of western County Galway.. The Grealish families of Oranmore are probably connected to those of Rosmuc, but that is a bit too far back for my research.

Re: GREALISH Families of Rosmuc
My grandmother, Nora Joyce (1884-1960), was from Rosmuc. Some time between 1909 (when she arrived in the US) and 1913 she married James Grealish, also from Rosmuc. I don't know if they married in Boston and then came to St. Paul, MN or if they married in St. Paul. They had two children. By 1917 James Grealish was dead and Nora had married Patrick Curran who supposedly had been a friend of Grealish in Ireland.
I have found a 1907 passenger record for a James Grealish from Rosmuc, and I believe that is him.

Maureen,
It was a nice surprise seeing your message on the Grealish forum of RootsWeb. It seems you have Grealish connections as well.
I have a TON of Grealish information from Rosmuc, and may even have the family of James Grealish. But it is a bit hard to tell without his parents' names. Would you by any chance have that information.
And I have that 1907 arrival of James in my Carna & Rosmuc parish data - the mainfest indicating he was joining his sister Catherine (at least initially) in Braddock, PA where a lot of Irish went to work in the steel mills.

Re: GREALISH Families of Rosmuc
Wow - that was fast. This James Grealish has been very hard to track down. I had always assumed he lived here in Minnesota with my grandmother - I'm quite sure the 1920 census indicated that their two kids were born in Minnesota. (By the time of that census, my grandmother was married to Patrick Curran and living in St. Paul). But there is no record of a James Grealish in the 1910 census, and he is not listed in the Minnesota death index either. Of course, I have no records of Nora Joyce either. I was fortunate enough to find her abandoned house in Rosmuc a few years ago, and I was told the Grealishes had the house on the hill nearby.
It's really Nora Joyce that I am most interested in. There's a gap between 1901 and 1909 that befuddles me, and James Grealish definitely played a roll in that. Thanks for the tip about Pennsylvania.

Re: GREALISH Families of Rosmuc
Hello,
While I do have a fair amount of Grealish information from western County Galway, I have not come across any of the Quinn, Price, Noble or Donlon surnames in that area. Sorry about that.
