Looking for ancestors or cousins of 5 Grealis
brothers from Kilsallagh County Mayo,
Ireland. Probably all born ca. 1820-1840.
Or any interested Grealis researcher.

I have just started my Grealis research and welcome any input.
Since I started this research last month I have come across many references
to the Grealis name in Ohio,PA, WV, NJ and MA. Two early
references were in 1860. My grandfather, Patrick Grealis was
the son of one of the five brothers I mentioned. I have most of their descendents
in a data base but they must have had cousins. Do you have any information
about your Grealis family that you could share.

Unfortunately, I know very little about the name - it is my birth name and information is restricted - I do know that most of the people of that name living in the Uk live in either Liverpool or Scotland, Edinburgh and that the name is Irish. I would be interested to read what you have discovered about it.

My great, great grandfather John Grealis b. 1829 and wife Winnifred b. 1830 were said to be from County Mayo. They emigrated in 1862 with their 2 sons, Martin Thomas. A daughter, Mary A. was born mid-ocean and a 3rd son,James, born in Mason Cty., KY in 1865

I just noticed your message about your ancestor from Co. Mayo.
Do you have any other information about him or his family.
I am going to put your info into my database
and maybe something will gel sometime.

Mary, I had hoped that John was one of the 5 brothers you mentioned! I have had great difficulty tracing this branch of my family. My great grandmother was Mary A., born mid-ocean April 1862. She died April 1893 leaving her husband, Thos. Guilfoyle 3 children, Margaret 8, Edward 6, my grandmother, Esther, 4. Winnifred also died in the 1890s John Grealis sons left KY with no trace.

Barbara,
I am attempting to start a Grealis Surname web page
hoping that other people researching the name can help
those of us searching for our elusive ancestors.
My grandfather had 5 brothers, but little is known
about some of them. But we'll keep trying.

Dear Mary,
It sounds like we might be able to help
each other out here. I have been working on
the family history too for the past month or
so and have a nice big chart with names,
dates and places. My great grandfather was
Patrick Grealis who was born in 1828 and died
in 1892, and I have most of the family
relations going down from there. Still trying
to go up in the chart. Resources are limited
but I have some good leads from talking with
other family members. I was trying to follow
up on some of those leads today with this
site and came across your messages. Please
e-mail me at mgrealis@ameritech.net or call
me at (440) 871-8206. Once I have gathered
enough info I was planning on putting up a
website too. In fact I just started
developing the beginning stages a couple
weeks ago. Maybe if we put our heads together
we can help each other out. Hope to talk with
you soon.

Sincerely,
Robert F. Grealis, Jr.

Amanda,
My name is Rob Grealis and as I mentioned
in another message to Mary I have been
working on the family history as well and
have a chart in which to follow the bloodline.
However I have no record of you. If I may ask
who were your parents? Where were you born?
What date were you born on? Are you married?
Do you have children of your own? This info
will help me and the rest of the family put
together a more complete picture of the
family bloodline. You can contact me at:
(mgrealis@ameritech.net) Hope to talk with
you soon.

Sincerely,
Robert F. Grealis, Jr.
