I'm looking for some information about my great-great grandmother, Mary Frances Grant. She was born around 1872 in Scotland, but I have no idea where, who her parents are, nothing. From information I've pulled from US censuses after she moved to the states, I've been able to estimate when she left Scotland, and I found a Mary Grant on a passenger list around the right time, but I'm not sure it's the right Mary. If it is the right one, she came to the US by herself at age 19 - and the record does not mention her parents.
I find her easily later on: She married Eber Arnold Liddle around 1896. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa, and had three children: my great-grandfather Grant Arnold (b. 1897); Mary Elizabeth (b. 1901); and Margaret (b. ~1905). Mary lived in Des Moines until her death in 1955.
I'm planning on doing some research in Des Moines next time I visit my parents; I hope her obituary or some public records shine a little more light on her earlier life.
If anyone knows anything about this Mary Grant (shot in the dark, I know), I would love to hear!
