In my line of Grants there were three brothers that are a brick wall for me (total siblings were seven) Alexander Grant b. 12 Mar 1814 in Inverness, Scotland d. 1852, perhaps in Canada. Duncan Grant b. 06 Sept 1816, Inverness, Scotland and James Grant b. 1825 also in Inverness, Scotland. I have a journal from one of my great uncles who says these three scattered to Canada. He stated that Alexander died of a heart attack in 1852 there but had been successful. Does this ring familiar to anyone?

Surnames: Grant,
I am very interested in comparing our trees. I am descended from Donald Grant born 1735 and Marjorie "May" Falconer who married about 1774. The family names are scattered through many generations. The James, Duncan and Alexander that I think went to Canada are in the 4th generation. One of my Donalds had a son named Donad born 1775 in Dalcross Scotland. I have a Duncan Grant that married Elizabeth MacDonald in 1877. I will be happy to forward a pdf file to your email.

Did your Duncan live in the Charlottenburg,Glengarry Co. Ontario area. I have a great uncle that was a priest in Toronto named John R Grant. John died in that area about 1917. The informant on the death record was a Duncan Grant and I'm trying to find out if John was visiting relatives at the time he died.We also have MacDonnel in the family. There is an Alexander that is either John's brother or uncle as well.

One of the other brothers was named Donald Grant who also emigrated to Canada as a building contractor in Vancouver and was doing well until his death at an early age of a heart attack. He was born 20 May 1880 in Iverness but died in Canada. My Alexander Grant was born 14 Jan 1870 in Inverness and died in 1950. They called him "Alick". He lived to be 80, possibly in the Vancouver area?
