Bad luck

It has often occurred to me that DNA matching is dangerous in genealogy
First I am not nearly a good enough scientist to say whether the match is entirely reliable.
Second as in your own case, how now to find a DNA match with a million Gordons ?

Better to plod on with your ostensible line where at least you have a story
- DNA doesn't have an interesting occupation for instance
And I think I am right in saying that DNA will only give the birthplace of your mother's mother's mother's etc etc mother at some date long before the Ice Age
