I am looking for information on a Robert D. S. Grant who was killed in a goldmine accident in CA in 1899. Does anyone know which counties had goldmines? He originally was from Pictou CO. Nova Scotia.

I am Judy Hattox and my grandmother was Jesse Peola Grant. I was looking for some information on her. My grand father was Bobby Jeff Hattox and his father was Jefferson Davis Hattox and his father was Gabriel Hattox . Where is your family from?

My Grants are from Nova Scotia,originally from Scotland. The Hattoxes are from Mississippi and I think South Carolina prior to that. I'd have to check on the latter with my daughter. I am not researching the Hattox name yet. Where are you from. With a name like Jefferson Davis Hattox I can guess it is south of the Mason Dixon line.

I don't know if this helps, but my Great great Grandfather Emphraim B. Grant struck in rich in Marysville California in 1849.
