My name is John McClanahan, and Mina Coy is my cousin. We both go back to John Drew McClanahan, born 1805 in Kentucky. Mina's mother's maiden name was Sarah Gracey. SArah married one of my uncles. Sarah had a cousin, George Gracey that married one of my aunts, and served many years in the Tennessee legislature. Sarah's father was William Minor Gracey, and her grandfather was James Barnett Gracey, born 1843 in North Carolina. James married Margaret Gilliam Calhoun, the daughter of John Daniel Calhoun, who married Elizabeth C. Johns in 1831 in Virginia. With this information, perhaps you can piece together how this group of Graceys got back to Patrick. I am interested in the possible Calhoun connection to John C. Calhoun, a famous Senator from South Carolina in American history.
