Surnames: Grabans
I was looking up some family history and came across your post. I don't know if this will reach you or not but I live in Cambridge, OH my maiden name is Gravens. Yes, my family surname used to be Grabans but some of the brothers changed their last name to fight in the war. . I was going through some of my dad's old papers and thought I would like to trace back some of our family history. You may already have this information but I do have some documents showing that Peter Graban came out of Harrisburg, Germany and arrived at the port of New York on July 12, 1885. His birth date is May 23, 1861. Contact me if you would like, you are welcome to copies of anything I have. I have a copy of his declaration of intent and petition for naturalization.
thanks, Josephine Beal
