The US branch of the Graal Family is trying to search for anyone with info on the English side of the family. Going further back even to Ireland (Meath) and from there who knows. My father and grandfather were born in Stroke on Trent, England. Wilfred Thomas Graal Senior and Wilfred Thomas Graal Junior. I would be happy to exchange info. Look forward to hearing from you.

My name is Kevin Lees. My mother was Catherine Lees (nee Graal) born in 1913 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs. She was the youngest of 9 children and her oldest brother was Wilfred who emigrated to the USA in the 1920s. We have traced her tree back to Peter Graal from Ireland, born in 185?. His wife was Mary Gannon, born in 1870s. My mum kept in touch with Uncle Wilf until just before his death.
Regards
Kevin Lees

Hello Kevin,
My name is Bill (William) Graal. I am one of 5 boys and 2 sisters of Wilfred Graal Jr who past away in 1997. Your uncle Wilfred Graal Sr moved to California with his wife Florence where they have since past. I would like to stay in touch so please contact me at bgraal@att.net. We can exchange info. I track my ancestry (or partly ours) in a software program called Family Tree but I am not sure of the version.
My trackings has lead my to a number of Graal's over in Amsterdam, Holland. Quite a few years ago, I spoke to a Bill (Wilhem) Graal over there however I have not been able to make a connection. The Graal's over there in Holland are all relatives. I have been told the double vowel "A" indicates a Dutch name which could be a tie to these Graal's in Amsterdam. Please keep in touch.

Hi Bill,

If you are still looking, I'm one of the Graal family from the UK. My surname is my father's name (Cheshire) but my mother is Ann Graal (living in UK) who was born in Stoke-on-Trent.

Would be interested in communicating as I'm curious about the American side of the family.

Cheers,

Phil Cheshire.

Hi Bill,

The Dutch connection is a red herring. If you've ever actually looked at the Moylagh/Oldcastle parish registers, you'll see that the dounble 'a' spelling is fairly rare and rather accidental, and the most common spelling is Grall. And for most of the 19th, the same registers record this name as Fitzgerald. So it looks like Grall/Grall is a corruption of the Irish form of Fitzgerald, which is MacGerailt. Sounds like you don't want to believe this, but the evidence speaks for itself!
