Welcome to all Goez's or Goz's. Our family tree goes back to Stuttgart area in Wuerttemberg Germany. I've got names and dates back to about 1650.

Write me!

Hi! I am having a really hard time tracing my father's side of the family in Germany (Wolz surname). The farthest back I can trace is Conrad Wolz, born about 1826 in Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was married to Elisabeth M. Lohmann, born in Hessen, Germany around 1840.

Do you have any information on any people with the last name of Wolz born around 1826 in the Wuerttemberg area? I was thinking maybe the original German name was something that sounds like Wolz, and was misspelled by someone when Conrad entered the country. Thanks for any information you might have! --Lori Goodwin (maiden name Wolz)

I am descended from Christ Jaeckle/Agnes Stegmann (GGP) who immigrated from Schwenningen to Buffalo NY in 1888. They were born in the mid-1860s. Their parents were Thomas Jaeckle/Veronika Schlenker and Joseph Stegmann/Agatha Kienzle. Agatha (b. 1832) is the illegitimate dtr. of Agnes Staehle (widow of Christian Kienzle); the father (listed on the birth record) is Elias Goez, from Thuningen. It appears Agnes and Elias may have married the following year (1833). We are searching for that marriage and Family Record.

Do you have any information on Elias?

Sorry, I don't have a Elias Goez in my family tree - as of yet. My son lives in Stuttgart and will be helping me "fill in the blanks" sometime this year.

He has traced the family name back to 1600, but not forward from about 1800. There are lots of people in southern Germany with the Goez/Goz surname.

You can contact me directly at Goez at swbell dot net and I'll keep you informed of any new info I receive. This Ancestry web site will also work, but I prefer direct emails.

Thanks, Tom Goez

Hallo Lori,

often V and W are in collision.
So got the following information by
www.auswanderer-bw.de
and there is a high possibility, that this is your "man":
Auswanderer-ID 47376
Konrad Volz from Walddorf as a part of Walddorfhäslach today
married
Buchbindermeister (profession)
evangelisch
emigrated about 1852 North America (two persons)
This is Walddorfhäslach
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walddorfh%C3%A4slach
(click engl. version)
Walddorfhäslach is a place in Würtemberg
There is a familyregister and other books
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Walddorf_(Walddorfh%C3%A4slach)

There is also another Konrad Volz from Neuhausen - Schellbronn in 1852 - no details-
But this belongs -today- to northern Baden, not to Wuerttemberg http://www.neuhausen-enzkreis.de/ although it is near Stuttgart

I'm trying to find where in Baden, Germany, that Albert Goes and his family lived. They migrated to the US on the Ship William H. Wharton from Antwerp to New Orleans, LA. They arrived on 24 May 1854. His wife's name was Maria Anne age 32, daughters were Rosalie age 18 and Amelia age 9.

Hi Tom,

Is there a Göz from Messelhausen between your relatives?
