I am also descended from a Goida/Goyda/Gojda family from Pulawy. MY g-grandmother was also named Nancy short for Anastasia. I have a feeling there were a few repeats of the same name. She married Anthony Thir/Tchir/Keer. Her father was Harry, mother's name unknown. She had at least one brother (Michael) and one sister (Anna). The three siblings settled in the anthracite region of PA (Beaver Meadows, Lansford, Coaldale).

we are Goyda's too

i'm looking for my maternal grandmother's family from cuba, her name was mathide goyda, and my mother was born in 1930 cuba, is now deceased, so info is sparse. can you help ? is this name ethnically polish ? possibly from those who had sought refuge in haiti in 19th century ?

Really can't help with much. Only info I have on this name is from my gf's death certificate. Couldn't even tell you if the name is spelled correctly as I'm sure it was spelled as pronounced. I've been told that it may have originally been spelled GOJDA.
