Hi,
I am looking for information on Richard Gowar and Mary Diplock who left England and arrived in South Africa in 1820 as British Settlers. Finding records for either of these people before their arrival in South Africa has so far yieled nothing despite various people searching.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cheryl,

I have loads on the Gowars thanks to networking with other highly regarded researchers and share Richard and Mary as my gg parents as well. My problem and that of my fellow researchers is going backwards as we cannot find anything conclusive to say that Raydin was Richards father or anything on Mary at this stage which is quite bizarre. You are welcome to contact me on sasjakrugr@bigpond.com.au I am already have your grandfather in my tree not sure how close the link is to mine I would have to double check.Kind Regards, Sasja

Hi there Pat,
Were you the Tagg-Gowar who contacted my cousin Robin Gowar recently asking about the Gowars? Cheryl Gowars line is connected to yours as Cheryl is from the 1820 British Settler line as well. Cheryl is also connected via Frederick Joseph Gowar son Richard Edwin Diplock Gowar who married Elizabeth Margaret Maytham one of their chldren was Norman Stanely Gowar this becomes Cheryl's line. Mine line is connected to Robin Gowar my great-grandmother was his father's sister. Unfortunately you will not gain access to Cheryls tree or mine as we network with other people and have promised them to not share their info. However we can share some info on the South African side if you would like to send me a message.

Hi, there
Yes, I contacted Robin and David. My grandfather Walter Tagg was married to Maria Gowar, daughter of John Thomas Gowar and granddaughter of Frederick James Gowar. It would be great if you could help with more info.
