Hi,
I am looking for information on Richard Gowar and Mary Diplock who left England and arrived in South Africa in 1820 as British Settlers. Finding records for either of these people before their arrival in South Africa has so far yieled nothing despite various people searching.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I have a Richard Gowar born 1781 in London which is the son of Ricard Gowar who is my 5 greats grandfather.

I belive he was married to Mary Diplock but cannot be sure.

Richard Gowar married Mary Diplock at St Martins in the Fields Westminster on 16th December 1810

If you agree I can give you information on the Gowar family

Perhaps you could give me the information on Richard Gowar in South Africa.

Regards

Alan Buckley

Hi Alan,

Wow I forgot about that post it is rather old and my Gowar line has progressed greatly since. Richard Gowar did marry Mary Diplock and they became what South Africans call British 1820 Settlers which is how I connect to the Gowar line.
The SA Gowar tree is huge and many ancestors of this line are keen to research their roots.
