I show the parents of Samuel Gover (b 1816) as being Samuel G Gover and Barbara Snyder (b 1788). This is odd since this means father & son, with the same name, married women with the same last name. I would be glad to go over this with you & exchange details. I am connected in my maternal grandmother's line through Augustus Gover

Timothy, Also looking for Govers from MD. Many of the Govers there were Quakers. My ggrandmother was Rina Viola Gover, Her father was Franklin G. Gover, mother was Adaline Dean...I have come across several Samual Govers in my research..didn't write it down but remember that a Samual Gover fought for the Confederate Army in the Civil War. Didn't find any Govers fighting for the Union. Only Glovers. If you connect up with any of my relatives email me. I will be on the lookout for your Samual...GOOD LUCK.

I was looking through some old research material I had saved and came across a SAMUEL GOVER.
He is listed the will of:

Daniel Gover of St. Mary's County, dated 1674

Robert Gover of Anne Arundel Cty. will dated 1699, mentioned 3 sons..Robert, Samuel, and Ephraim

Susan Gover, widow, of Calvert County whose will is dated 1723 and mentions a dtr. named Rebecca

Samuel Gover, Of Baltimore Cty., will dated 1744-1745 mentions his wife Hannah and a son named Samuel

Samuel Gover, of Anne Arundel Cty., will dated 1745-1744 mentions his sons, Samuel, Ephraham or Ephraim, Phillip and Richard

Robert, Samuel, William, John, Ephraim, Richard, Philip, Anthony and Henry are some of the Masculine Christian names frequently recurrent in the annals of the Gover family.

Hope someone can use this info to help their search along..
Elizabeth

Greetings!

Samuel and Barbara also had a son named Samuel, to whom I am related. Their son Samuel (b 2 Dec 1814, d 8 June 1899) married Catherine Snyder (b 1820, d 6 Mar 1892). They are buried at Providence Church Cemetery in Knollwood MD.

I have no information on Samuel and Barbara. I'd welcome the opportunities to exchange information! My email address is bobbishc@cox.net.

Thanks!
Charlie
