Hi Julie
The Gover connection is only a very small twig on my family tree. What I was really after was the origin of the name itself. However I will pass this message on to a another researcher who's name is Leslie Gover you may be able to help one another with research.

Hi Julie I have tried the Mere line but can't find a link The Govers I am researching came from Weston Bampfylde to High Littleton and Clutton, I found some Govers from Mere who lived at a farm called Govers Farm but could not find a link. if I do find a link I will get back in touch with you. Hi there, the name Gover has appeared in my search for the Mills family in Mere. Apparently my great great grandfather George Mills married an Ann Gover around the 1860's but I am yet to confirm the actual date. 2 children were born of the marriage, a daughter called Aggie and a son named Charles. Do you know of this union? Cheers Karen (nee Mills)

Hi Karen
I have an Ann GOVER who was born in 1833 daughter of Harriet SWETMAN and Edward GOVER. She would be about the right age. Unfortunately I don't have any more details about her.
I do have a lot of Gover's in Mere and Harriet SWETMAN was from Mere but Edward GOVER was from Wincanton.
Be interested to know if you have any more info. I do have a relative in Wiltshire who is also researching so I will also try to contact her to see if it rings any bells.
Look forward to hearing from you.
