Looking for any information on the above and also on Henry Thomas Gough and wife Martha. Arthur George was their son.

My Grandfather was Arthur George Gough b 17 Nov 1893 Brisbane, Queensland. I cannot find any records of the birth on QLD BDM. I have the marriage Certificate of Arthur George Gough b1893 and my Grandmother Ivy Evelyn Alice Crown b 1903 d 1987 and on the certificate, it states his father was Henry Thomas Gough (Pastoralist)(was this land in Queensland or NSW?)and mother was Martha (Unknown).

Arthur George tried to enlist in the Australian Army but was rejected. He tried three times in three different locations. On one he stated he was born in Blackall, Queensland. I cannot also find a death notice on NSW BDM or Qld BDM. I have been to the Library also and am working through the Electoral Roll. Please can anyone help? I have struck a brick wall.

Hi my name is Sharon Gough, my father is Ronald Gough and my Grandfather was Sydney James Gough. I did not know my great Grandfather, but my Great Grandmother was lillian and she married Sydney james Gough. The story goes that my great grandfather came over from England with several of his brothers. He lost his life in a mining accident in Broken Hill, i am told. Hi Sharon, I'm really so glad you have replied. I have a Ronald Sydney Gough b 11 July 1924 Goulburn NSW died 22 Feb 1996 Umina, NSW. He was my Uncle, whom I never knew. I know he married Lila West Stickells b 1922 Mascot, Sydney and died 03 Mar 2005 Gosford, NSW. Married on 06 Jul 1946 at St'Marks Church, Granville, NSW.

Children: John, Bill, Gloria, Graeme and Shirley. That's all I know about his family.

My Grandparents were:

Ellen Blanche Gough b 23 Apr 1937 (I have found this side of the family).

I lived most of my childhood out at places like Moree, Walgett, Narrabri, Wee Waa and Tenterfield, NSW. So there could be a connection here. On my Grandfathers Marriage Certificate it states his father was Henry Thomas Gough (pasturalist) and mother Martha Unknown. That's all. I cannot find a birth or Death Cert.

Hi Robyn, could very well be a connection somewhere. I found out my Great Grandfather was William Viger Gough. He married Lilly Thebon in 1913 in Broken Hill and died in Moonta South Australia. Not sure when, but my great Grandmother remarried in 1929. William and Lilly only had 1 son together my Grandfather Sydney James Gough. Will speak to my dad as i can't remember grandads DOB. He passed about 21 years ago. They had 3 Children, Des Gough (Living in Dalby) Ronald John Gough Born 14/1/1943(My Father, living in Toowoomba) and Gloria Gough (Now Smith living in or around Woolongong NSW. My Grandfather Sydney James lived most of his life in Bell. Sounds like there may be a connection with your Uncle as my family has both a Ronald and a Sydney? Thank you so much for the response. I hope to catch up with my Mum & Dad this weekend, so will see if the names on your list ring any bells. Will keep in contact.

Hi Sharon, this is another line I think maybe the right one. Instead of Henry Thomas Gough, it may have been Thomas Henry Gough b 1860 Richmond d 1938 Camperdown, Sydney married Margaret M (could stand for Martha) Newcombe in 1891 at Wagga Wagga, NSW. they had the following children.
