Goucher of Wood Co. Virginia / West Virginia

I am looking for any Goucher: Goucher, Gougher, Gouger or Cougcher spelling variations; that would have been in the Wood Co. or surounding area of Virginia / West Virginia. Time period would have been 1775 to 1870.

I have the following information:
From "An Illustrated History of the State of Oregon" by H.K. Hines, 1893
Dr. G.W. Goucher of Amity, Yamhill county, Oregon, is one of the oldest practicing physicians of this county and has, by a life of devotion to his practice and uniform kindness of heart, endeared himself to the people of this community. He was born in West Virginia, August 26, 1820, and is of French ancestry, who came to the Old Dominion previous to the Revolution. His father, William Goucher, was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, and was a soldier in the war of 1812. He married Miss Sarah Casto in Greenbrier county of the same State. They had nine children, seven sons and two daughters, all of whom attained maturity. Two are now living, James Goucher, of San Francisco, California, and the subject of oar sketch. In 1825 the father died and five years later the mother also expired, leaving the subject of our sketch an orphan at ten years of age.
(Dr. Goucher's obit states he was born in Parkersburg West Virginia)

I also located in the:
1810 census William Cougcher
1820 census William Gouger
1822 Tax Rolls William Gougher
1830 census Sarah Gougher
All in Wood Co., Virginia / West Virginia

Possible daughter Jemima Goucher, b. 1808 Maryland or Virginia and died in Wood Co.

Any one with any information on any of these spellings in the Wood Co. area, please contact me, as there were 7 sons and two daughters. It stands to reason that at least one or more may have stayed in the area.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Barbara,
Have you spoken to David Casto who is looking for a Goucher Casto link. He has a message on this Goucher board dated 12/14/05. He's looking for a Sarah Goucher and one in West Virginia. He contacted me previously to see if my Goucher was the right one but it wasn't.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY. Yes, I have spoken with David Casto. We are working on the same line together. I was just hoping someone else might be looking for a Goucher, that we may connect to.

Barbara, I also have a Goucher relation in my family. David Casto has shared a large amount of information that was very helpful to me.
Washington M. Goucher was my 2nd G Grandfather. He married Emeline Tharp and they had a daughter, Mary, born in Coahoma County MS in 1830's. My family records show Washington and Emeline (Emma) lived the end of their lives in Houston, TX but I can't find any documentation that can be considered a primary resource.
Also, I can't be 100% certain that Washington really was the son of William Goucher even though it seems to fit with everything David shared.
Do you have any other records of this side of the Gouchers?
Thanks,
