Hello- I was surfing through the site and clicked on Gotch. That was my father's middle name. His name was Ralph Gotch Piergue and was the nephew of Frank Gotch who the world's champion wrestler at the turn of the century 1900-06. I am a calligrapher and was asked to do the gotch family tree in 1985 for a Gotch family reunion. The tree was the descendants of Frederick Rudolph Gotsch. The "s" was later dropped from the name. Believe it or not I have a calligraphy web site www.ideasndeals.com and that family tree is featured on it. Just go to the commercial art section and click on the calligraphy to get there. Hope this helps. Regards- John garrett ideas@quik.comwww.ideasndeals.com

Frank Gotch-champion wrestler
My father, Ralph Gotch Piergue (1907-1981, gave me a book about Frank Gotch's life. The book is titled " Gotch World's Champion Wrestler" by Joseph B. Bowles and was published in 1913. The third chapter tells of his family life and boyhood. He was born on April 27, 1878 on a farm near Humbolt, Iowa. His father, Frederick Rudolph Gotch, was born in Schalteri, Germany and married Amelia Nopens in 1855. In 1863 they emigrated to America and settled in Lewis County,N. Y. Mr. Gotch served in the Union Army of the Potomac under General Grant. In 1865 he moved to Corinth Township, Iowa. In 1875 the family moved to Humbolt, Iowa.
Frank Gotch began to wrestle professionally in 1899 and became world champion in 1908. He died at the age of 40 in 1917. The book was reprinted and presented during the Humbolt, Iowa centenniel in 1963 by the First National Bank of Humbolt. It is a very interesting book. Perhaps it is still available through the Humbolt Chamber of Commerce, the bank, or at the Frank Gotch Memorial park.
I will see if I can dig up some other information. Hope this helps.
Kindest regards,
John Garrett

Don't know whether any of this matches. Frederick George Gotch of London, daughter Emily Jane Gotch b 1858, married Sidney Keepin 1886 in Lambeth, London. Son, also Sidney Keepin b 1900 emigrated to Montreal 1920/21, died Clearwater, Florida 1973 under the name William S Gotch. Suspect he swapped his given names round and used his mother's surname. Sister Cicely Keepin stayed in UK, married William Thomas Drummond and was my grandmother. Her daughter was Joan Audrey Florence Drummond (my mother), married Jack Winton Cross, son of Charles Thomas Cross
email me if this matches Mike
