I assume you are granddaughter to Rosa Lee or Rosalee Smith then? You are kin to Marilyn (Mirdie) Schindall and Terry Gosa then. I have numerous other George Washington Gosa's and there is a black George Washington Gosa from MS. The black Gosa's are an interesting line and are related. Terry descends from the line of your George Washington Gosa's brother (John Lewis Gosa) and Mirdie descends from George's son Kelsie. Terry lives in Lamar County, AL. There was a Gosa reunion last September in Lamar County, AL that I was able to attend. I was able to take pictures of the graves at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery but wasn't able to photograph Lovejoy Cemetery at that time but hope to do so perhaps next summer. Let me know if I can send you any pictures. I photographed all the graves. I have been researching out the Indian (mostly Cherokee) in a lot of lines and have been interested in Rosalee for a while due to her Smith and Rogers ties which are known Cherokee surnames. I do have her a few generations back but haven't cross-referenced her on the rolls yet. Interesting about Anca Gosa, it would be interesting if she ties in somehow. I do know that there were and are Gosa's across the US aplenty. The spellings I have ran across are Gosa/Goza/Gosey which are one and the same and a few Gossee's. There are also Gose and Goss but I haven't been able to tie any of those in as being related. My line descends from the 1st wife of James Wallace Gosa, Sr. and their son James Wallace Gosa, Jr. James, Jr. was my great-great-great-grandfather. I am in WA state. Happy hunting!

Janice, It has been a long time since your post about Lavina Ivins Simmons. You stated that she was 1/2 eastern cherokee. Have you ever seen any proof of this. I have been researching this for a while. Margaret P. Gosa was married to James Patrick Wiley Cunningham who was my GG grandfather. I found, doing some research that on her back ground Medical info she was listed as a squaw (unproven cherokee)Also read somewhere and am not sure but that maybe she was married before James P.W. and maybe Ivins or Evans was her previous married name. Do you have any thoughts on this?
