Goral may be a shortened version of Goralczyk
|
I have also heard that Goral may have come from Gorale.
|
Yes it certainly could be a shortened form of Goral. Just as Gora could be another version also. Barbara

Hello, philippe from france, i am also trying to find relatives all over the world, it's not so easy. My grand father Wincenty Goral was born in Wysoka (Poland) the 4th april of 1896, and my Grand mother Wladislawa Kudra in Zagorze(Poland) the 6th June 1900. These two village are near Katowice. There are a lot of names which are coming from Goral like goralewski, goralewicz, gorali, goralka, goralnik, goralski, goraluk, goralska,.... and the same with gural... There is a jewish use of Goral, a turkish use, a rom use, and may be others. Some polish say that goral is not a slav name. We have also an asian goral but it's an animal of the moutains (un chamois )

Philippe, I am interested in your posting. My great grand mother's name is Jean Goral' and she was born in Illinois, USA. I know nothing about that side of my family and wonder if you know of any one in the U.S. from your family.

Hi Stephan:
You didn't mention when or about the time your Father's Uncles moved to the USA. My Grandfather was a Goral and his Father was from Poland. We're in Rockford, IL near Chicago.
