I am a descendant of George and Frank Goracke (Goryczka) of Germany, now Poland. George immigrated to Wisconsin, then on to Johnson county Nebraska where Frank and his family then immigrated. If you have any info or questions please contact me via email. Thanks!

Julie, Did your Gorache's of Johnson Co., NB have a George who went to Kansas: Phillips County (possibly with his parents)? I have a distant relative who married a George Gorrache/Gorache in Phillips County, Ks. He married Floy A. Blakesley 16 Feb. 1892.They were in Phillips County til at least 1910. They later relocated to Parma, Idaho by 1920 when their adopted daughter Dora married in that year. There were many Gorache's in Phillips County, near Agra. Might not mean anything but I just thought I would give this little information to you. I know that Floy's husband was from Nebraska. Later, BARB

Re: Goracke/Goryczka/Goracka
I am a decendant of a William Goracke who had brothers named Frank and George. I am not sure if we are speaking of the same people. Could you tell me what time frame? Thanks,

Barb,
The George Goracke that you speak of was born in 1869 and his father was John Goracke who was born in 1847 in Prussia. George was the brother of my great grandfather. Please let me know if you have an additional information or questions.
Thanks

Re: Goracke/Goryczka/Goracka
I have just now come back from the Census Bureau (today is Jan 23, 2002), where I found four Goracke families in Centre Precinct, Johnson County, in the 1885 state census of Nebraska. The oldest head was Frank, then 65. He and his younger wife Anna had 3 sons and 3 daughters, the elder three born in Prussia. George and Catherine had 1 son and 3 daughters, the elder two born in Prussia. George was 59, his wife Catherine was 33. Albert and Mary Goracke, 33 and 24 respectively, had three children under the age of 6, all born in Nebraska. And lastly, Lawrence and Anna Goracke, 31 and 28, had a young son and daughter, both of whom were to die in childhood. Their daughter Josephine (not yet born) married a relative of a friend of mine. I can supply this information in greater detail to anyone who e-mails me. Does anyone out there know the relationship between the two older men, Frank and George, with the younger men, Albert and Lawrence/Lorenz?

Re: Goracke/Goryczka/Goracka
Hello Connie-
Frank and George Goracke were brothers. Lorenz was a son of Frank and Albert was a son of George. This made the two younger men first cousins.
George had the following children: Thomas, John, Albert, Mary, and Anna
Frank had the following children with Catherine Matusek: Lorenz, Andrew, Pauline, Mary, Frances, Anna Julia, Joseph, and Constant
Frank had the following children with Anna Hoebner: Teckla, Urben, Nora, Frank Jr., and Hadwig (Hatti)
Two sets of first cousins then married: Frank's son Lorenz married George's daughter Anna Frank's daughter Mary married George's son Albert
Confused? I also sent you an email, hope this helps!

Re: Goracke/Goryczka/Goracka
I also would like to know about the relationship between William, George, and Frank. I am also a descendant of Frank Goracke by his second marriage with Anna Hueber. My grandmother was Nora Goracke married to Barney Wolniewicz. I knew very little of the Goracke's or the Wolniewicz's in Nebraska. Any additional information would be a help.

Re: Goracke/Goryczka/Goracka
Hello Larry- It's nice to meet you. Your grandmother Nora was a half-sister to my great-grandfather Lorenz (son of Frank and first wife Catherine Matusek). I have lots of information on the Johnson County Gorackes. Most of my family still lives in that area. I would love to share my information with you, what would you like to know? Would you mind sending me information on Nora and Ben? I knew they married and lived in New York, but don't have anything other than that. By the way, Frank and George Goracke were brothers. I don't know anything about a William though, where was he from?
Also, I have a few different spellings for Wolniewicz. In Anna Hebner Goracke's obituary it was spelled Wolmervicz and in one of my family trees from another family member it was spelled Walnaurech. You may know all this, but thought I'd let you know in case it helps. You know how those names changed spelling so often in documentation. :)

I am writing to inquire what you know about this Goracke family; Gorge Goracke who married Floy. The adopted daughter, Dora, you mention is my grandmother. I am very interested to find out more about the parents who adopted her. In fact my mother was named after Floy. Any info you have would be very helpful. Thanks. Barbara
