I am searching for information on Peder (abt 1826-abt 1880)and Anna Marie Oleson (1825-1914), who changed their last name to Goplen after their son Ole married Christina Nyhus Goplen (she was originally from the Goplen farm in Land, Nord Torpa, Oppland, Norway.) They lived in Vernon County starting in the late 1850's. They has 4 children, Ole, Inge (married Christopher Sollie), Dina (married Syver Carlson), and Julia (married Ole Martin Bjornstad.)I would really love to know what part of Norway they came from or any other information.

I am looking for information on a Christopher Sollie who lived in Vernon Co. He married Johanna Michelet in 1874. They had one daughter, but both mother and daughter died in 1878. Did your family live in or near Westby?

My Christopher Sollie married Inge Goplin sometime before 1880. but not by much. He could have been previously married. They did live near Westby in Vernon County but moved to the Dakota Territory before the 1880 census. They had 2 children, Julia and Charles. Inge died when they were little, then Christopher died. The children lived with their evil stepmother and her new husband until they were old enough to live on their own. Julia returned home to Westby and lived with relatives until she married, then moed to Barron. Sad story. I would love to know more about what information you have!

This may be the same Christopher. If so, how tragic! I did find him a widower in the 1880 census in Chrisitana Twp., Vernon Co age 33 b. about 1847 in Norway. Maybe he ended up in both census'. I have found that sometimes. I will be in Westby in August and can try to find their marriage. Joahanna and daughter Joanna Christine are buried in the Methodist cemetery there. Feel free to email me-dansan@astound.net.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but my last several messages did not post. Well, I'll try again. The Christopher Sollie I am looking for is in the 1880 census in Christiana Township, Vernon Co. He is 33 living with Inge Pederson 21. Christopher and Johanna also had a son, George in 1875. I'm wondering what happened to him?

Inge Pedersen is Inge Goplin, ie, her father's name was Peder, hence Pedersen. Julia, the daughter, never mentioned a half brother in her narrative. Her parents died when she was very young. I have pictures of Inge and Christopher Sollie.

I would love to see pictures of Christopher and Julie. I have a picture of George, but not Johanna. He must be about 5 or 6 in the picture I have. Feel free to email me at dansan@astound.net. I'll be gone for a couple of days, but home again the first of next week. I have some information on Christopher that I'm willing to share.
