I have been doing more digging on the descendants of my John James Goodman ca 1750-1795, of Bedford County, VA, and in particular, descendants of his eldest son John Goodman, who went with his father and brother Robert to Wilson County, TN about 1791. Son John went soon after (before 1794) to Oglethorpe County GA, where he had 2 sons and 6 daughters by 3 wives, and he died in 1859.

Of his two sons, my research indicates that only one - Robert Hope Goodman, who had a son with wife Caroline Mason, who had male descendants, that son being Charles Mason Goodman Sr. The other son, John Tharp Goodman and his wife Irena Palmer had only daughters.

Charles Mason Goodman had four sons with wife Georgia S. Fowler: Robert Hope Goodman (after his grandfather), Charles Mason Goodman Jr., Phillip McKean Goodman and Harold Thorpe Goodman. Of those, Harold had no offspring with his wife Eileen. The other three sons only had one male descendant who could have had other sons, including:

- Charles' grandson, Robert Hope Goodman II of New York, born ca 1910, if he survived after 1925, which seems doubtful;
- Charles' grandson Charles Mason Goodman III of Orlando, Florida (born Dec 1920 and died ca 1992 in Orange County FL) and his wife Anne;
- Charles' grandson Phillip McKean Goodman Jr. (born Jan 1917 in Atlanta, GA and died Sept 1958 in Polk County FL) and wife Dorothy (born 1919), including at least one known son: Phillip McKean Goodman III (born May 1939 in Hocking County, OH). They may have had other offspring after 1939 that I could not identify.
