I am hitting an absolute brick wall concerning Samuel Goodman (actually a double ancestor through his two daughters, Priscilla and Minerva). He was married to Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis, and was listed on Warren Co. tax lists in 1800. One family story I've heard is that he and Betsy had too many mouths to feed (children) and so they took a boat up the river and dropped some of the kids off along the banks, telling them there were Indians up ahead. Then they went on to the next settlement and stopped, telling folks there that there were some "orphans" back downstream whose parents had been killed by Indians", and the "orphans" needed to be rescued. No idea if there is any truth to this, hopefully not! Any info. on this family would be greatly appreciated!
