I'm looking for Manoel Diogo Pires Goncalves who was born in Torres de Bouros (sp?) in 1893. I've been asked to go there and get a birth certificate for him. DOes anyone know how to do this? Where are the certificates kept etc?

Torres de Bouros does not exist. It´s Terras de Bouro, it´s a small town in the north of Portugal.
In Portugal everibody must be registrated at byrth since 1910. Then you have a birth certificate. You can get the certificate at Conservatória do Registo Civil de Terras de Bouro. The Registration become obligatory in 1910 with the Republic. Before that only the catholic church have a kind of regist. Were the priests who done the Assento Paroquial at the baptism

Thank you for responding to my message. The birth certificate I'm looking for is from 1892. WIll this still be at Conservatória do Registo Civil de Terras de Bouro?

I'm sorry I don't understand this:
