My dad, Steve Gombkoto, died last week. His parents, Vera and Martin Gombkoto came over from Hungary. Her maiden name was Kadar. I don't know of any other family members outside of the St. Louis area. Please let me know if there are more out there.

My husband's maternal Grandmother was a Szabo but married a gombkoto. Her name is Elizabeth and her husband's name was Josef. Josef had two sisters Maria ( Mary) and Erebeta. Josef's mother and father were Katerina (Varga) and Thomas Gombkoto. Josef, Maria, and Katerina came to America from Eberhordt Czecgisk in 1921. On the boat records it states they were Czechosl and Hungarian desent. My husband's grandma is still living.

Re: Gombkoto family in Hungary
I'm looking for ANYONE who might be one of our distant relatives. I'm still at the beginning of the search, but any piece of information would make me really happy! My family has been living in the eastern part of Hungary for centuries(region Szabolcs, Szatmár),the family may have roots in Transylvania, now a part of Romania. A few of our ancestors left Hungary at the beginning of the 20th century. We suppose that their descendants might live in Canada but unfortunately we are not sure of that. Please, drop me a few lines if you would like to get in touch with a hungarian Gombkoto so that we could help each other to find our relatives.

Re: Gombkoto family in Hungary
I am researching the Winkler family from Hungary. Thomas Gombkoto came to America with Peter Winkler. We have just received a genalogy from Bratislava for the Winkler family and the name Gombkoto appears in the family tree. Katalin Gombkoto married Matyas Winkler Aug 16,1862 in Bratislava. If any Gombkoto relatives are out there please let me know I would love to talk to you. Sheron Winkler

Re: Gombkoto family in Hungary
My grandmother was Margit Gombkoto and she married Andy Feher. They came to the United States from Hungary in the early 1900's. She also had a sister Lydia Gombkoto Tasko who settled in Windsor, Canada. My Grandmother, Margit and my Grandpa, Andy settled in Dillonvale, Ohio. I am looking for info on who her parents were, how many siblings, and who her grandparents were. Margit was born July 6, 1891. Married in Szendro, Hungary on July 19, 1909.
