I have a Meilach (Max) Gomberg who emmigrated in 1902 from Golte, Russia with his wife Mariem (Mary) and infant daughter Wela (Victoria). Do these people connect to your Henry?

It is interesting that they had the same date of immigration. This is my husband's side of the family so I will need to check with them at Thanksgiving. I was previously told that Henry had 2 sisters. Henry was born abt 1862. Do you know Max's date of birth? By chance, did Max settle in the Bronx upon arrival like Henry did? Do you have any information on which boat Max came across on? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to track anything down for Henry yet. I am very interested to find out if there is a connection. I'll try to drop you an update after Thanksgiving. Thanks for the reply.

Max was born about 1873 and died about 1949. He arrived on the boat "Patricia," and settled in Kings County, Brooklyn Borough, where he had 3 more children (Louis, Saul Eli and Matthews) and became a house painter. There were several other Gombergs on the "Patricia," who I assume were relatives: Chaje Gomberg, age 50, Cile Gomberg are 17, David Gomberg are 19, Eli Gomberg age 14, Jankel Gomberg age 50, all from Golte, Russia. Note that these are Russian names and would no doubt have changed when they settled in America. Max and Mary's children changed their last name to Gombert.

Hi, my name is Patti Kanner and I am writing for my father-in-law whose name is Alexander Kanner. He is the son of Nettie Gomberg Kanner. We found this entry on ancestry and all the names line up with his family, with the exception of another brother named Irving.

He would very much like to get in touch with any of his family members. Please contact me at the e-mail pgkanner@yahoo.com. Thank you.
