I am trying to find the children of a Golish (Rudy? Paul? Andrew?) who was married to Hazel Mandrell. They were married probably in the late 40's or right before WW II. He died in 1955 or 1956. Hazel Mandrell is from Harrisburg, Illinois area and so would be the Golish she married. Hazel is very old and has Alzheimers so she cannot remember her children. I am her stepdaughter.

I am trying to find out about my mother's father and his family and history. Her father was Nickolas (Nicholas) Golish and his father's name was also Nick. (Jr.) married a Doris Rose Abplanalp and I have much information from her side but not the Golish side. Golish relatives I know are (uncle) Rick and Shareen Golish and (cousin) Kenny and Shauna Pearce. I'll have to find out what Rick knows since I believe he was raised around more of them, just never asked.

Saw your name on Golish surname message board. My Veronica Golish (Golish) was married to Wilhelm Berke. They lived in Northfield and are buried in Calvary Cemetery. I believe she may have had a brother Bernard who also lived in Northfield, but have been unable to make any firm connections. Any help you could give would be wornderful. I have a lot of information about Veronica's descendants.

I have you listed in my family tree. Herman would be my great great great grandfather. It is a shame that your cousin does not speak to anyone. Have you tried to contact her? I am assuming you have since you state that she does not place any importance on the work. Perhaps she would be willing to let you copy it if nothing else. Would be willing to trade info with you as long as communication would be both ways. I recently got burned by a fellow researcher on the Golish name. Golish in Minn dropping the 'c'

August Fredericka are my great grand parents also (my Dad is Melvin Golish, his Dad is Herman Golish and his Dad was August Golish).
I am replying to the question of the 'c' being dropped to pass along some information I had come across from a conversation I had with
my first cousin. My first cousin (Joyce LaBresh - daughter of Irma Golish Cecil LaBresh) had done some very extensive research of
our (Golish) ancestry. Joyce did come across documents that did say that August had dropped the 'c' (Golisch) when he immigrated to the
US to make the name more Americanized (Golish). I think she had copies of August's entrance documents from Ellis Island. Joyce passed
away a couple of years ago and all her hard work, documents, pictures were given to her daughter who does not communicate with any of
her relatives or place much importance on all the work her Mom has done.

could be. My greatgrand father came from prusia in 1882 and there are several uncles named wallace golish, his sons and grandsons

My grandfather came over in the late 1800,s fron the German -Polish border.Grandfatherwas 7 or 8 at the time.His name was Otto,and the region they came from was on the Oder river.Great-grandfathers name was Edward Otto.Grand father came over with I think 2 sisters and 1 or two brothers,but one died at sea.One of his sisters died shortly after arriving.My fathers name was Milford Eduord Golisch,and I remember his saying we had family from California that came to see grandpa,I remember him saying they were grandpas cousins.Thank you for writing,hope yo hear more from you.

My grandfather was Otto Golisch,he came from an area in Germany near the Oder River.Some of our family dropped the c in our name and I was wondering if maybe our family could be related. my great grandfather was Edward Golisch.Please e-mail me back and maybe we could find out.

Me too, sorry it took so long to get back. My life has been a roller coaster lately. I know my grandfather walter had a brother richard so that would have been my great uncle. I met Richards grandson a couple of weeks ago he was visiting his son who lives in Lansing. His name is david Golisch and he lives in minisota. Also met Andrea golisch who is married to paul golisch. She was visiting from Germany. Still not sure of that connection though.My father had a brother Arthur and a sister francis. Francis may still be living in Wisconson but I know arthur has passed away.If there is a family connection let me know.

Dear Sue,do you have an uncle named richard?My grandfather lived in Stettin,which is by Wausau Wisconsin.His name was Otto,and my great-grandfather was Edward.I have been in touch with Clarence Golischs children and we met for lunch this summer.I was excited to meet themand share some stories.
My father,whos name was Milford had an uncle Walter and Richard,they were my grandfathers brothers.They also at one time lived near my grandfather by Wausau.
