Thank you for your reply.
Anton spelled his name with an "r"? Golarz?
My grandfather came from the Lomza area....the Northeast "corner" of Poland. The spelling of his name was Golasz.

Mikolaj Golasz had a sister Rosalia, born in 1885, who arrived in NYC in May 1900. Immediately after her arrival she went to Hartford Connecticut where Mikolaj Golasz was living. After June 1900 I do not know what happened to her.
Mikolaj Golasz married Felicia Sutowska in 1902 in Hartford. Felicia was from a small village near Goniadz (Russian Poland) which is just a few dozen miles northwest of Bialystok.
Mikolaj and Felicia moved to Holyoke Mass before 1907 and then moved to Iron River Michigan before 1910.
In Iron River there were families with the name Chmielewski or slight spelling variations on that name and they would have been friends of Mikolaj and Felicia by virtue of the Polish community there. I could probably dig out there names from church records there.
Did Anton Golas spell his name with an "r" (Golarz) as suggested in your note or with an "s" (Golasz)??
Hope this helps.
