James S. Golab, age 67, of Kunkletown,
formerly of Kittanning,
passed away Thursday, April 21,
at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg.
James was the loving and devoted husband of Helen (Modola) Golab. They celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on January 15th. James was born in Erie on June 9, 1943. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Jurino) Golab. When James and his brother, Tom, were toddlers, their parents passed away and they were raised by their foster parents Sylvester and Bertha (Golab) Arasimowicz who are also deceased. James attended St. Patrick's Grade School, graduated from Cathedral Prep School and attended Gannon University all in Erie, Pa. James served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Army during Vietnam in the Intelligence department. He operated the Brodheadsville Sunoco in Brodheadsville until retiring. James and his wife are members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. We have been blessed with the presence of James in our lives and he will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Helen; he was a loving father to his three children, Eric Golab of Kunkletown, Kim-Marie Stanley and her husband, Stephen, of Tampa, Fla.; and James A. Golab of Golden, Colo.; He shared a special relationship with his brother, Thomas Golab of Erie, Pa. He was a loving and gentle Pap-Pap to his two granddaughters, Madison and Stephanie Stanley both of Tampa, Fla. Viewing will be held on Monday, April 25th from 7-9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 130 East 4th Street, Erie, Pa. with the Msgr. Henry Krigel celebrant.. James will be interred at the Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery in Erie, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made In Loving Memory of James S. Golab to the American Cancer Society (Monroe Unit), RR13, Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312. The Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, Pa. is in charge of arrangements.
