Hi Clen9,
I'm curious, would you happen to know what the 'B' in Ida B Goins stood for? I'm asking, even though It might be a stretch, but I too am researching a Goins ancestor with the middle initial B. Allen B Goins. Of course the variation in the spelling Goins, Goin, Going, Goings, etc etc etc has driven me absolutely crazy, I'm wondering if some insight on the B might ease my pain somewhat.
Thanks,

I have not seen any reference to what the B stands for. I, too, think it would at least help me to further identify and track Ida if I knew. One differentiation of the surname is that if it is likely it is a Native American surname as in John Going, it was pronounced as John (is) going.. because that, indeed, was the reference. The English surname was pronounced as goin(s) which rhymes with coin(s).
