My mother's family, through her mother, is named Mach. They are from Pommerania (Pommern) in towns such as Wittenberg, Wierschutzin, & Dembek. These places are now in Poland, but were formerly parts of Prussia / Germany. The family is Roman Catholic- this may help locate some records.
I know about my grandmother, Helene Mach. She married Johann Goyke; however, I don't have much information about her siblings. They are: Edward J., Albert, Johannes, Paul, Victor, Maria, and Anna.
I know that Edward J. came to the USA in 1927 and settled in Albany, NY. I am learning more about his family through recent connections. (He married Dora Kerling.) However, I also would like to have any information someone may have on his architectural work in Albany. He is known to have designed, or helped design, government buildings in Albany. I assume this would have been from 1927 through the 1950's? He died in 1971.
I also know that Victor died in France and the end of WWI, in 1918.
I also know my grandmother's parents were Josef Mach (jul 18, 1865 - mar 27, 1945) and Maria Wozny (Aug 20, 1872 - Aug 20, 1918). Maria's parents are Johann Wozny and Janke Menczykowski.
I am also looking for information on my grandfather's family, GOYKE. Helene Mach (b.1906 - d.1993) married Johann Goyke (b.1905, d.1987). His parents are Bernhard Goyke and Marianne Abraham. My grandfather's siblings, those I need to know about, are: Stanislaus, Joseph, Bernhard, Siegfried, Antony, Waleria, Anni, & Maria.
I would appreciate any help someone might have in these areas. Specifically, someone who might have church records from Pommerania. I have been having a hard time making positive connections with my mother's family. Thanks for your input.
