GOIKE's of Detroit

I am searching for the descendants of Anthony Goike and wife, Anna (maiden TRUE name was Anastasia Kreft). Anthony was born in 1867 and died in 1953. Buried in Mt. Olivet, Detroit. Anna was born in Germany in 1874 and died in 1936. She was also previously married to a Budnick. Her two surviving children from the GOIKE marriage were Frank who was born 1907 and died 1964 and George b.1913 and died 1993 in Charlevoix. I believe this is the same Goike family that owns GOIKE FARMS in the Washington Co. area as I've heard through the grapevine that they're related to the KREFT line.

The Goike Farm families of Washington/Shelby Township Michigan are the descendents of Steven Goike and Irene (Dobbelstein) Goike. Their original farm was on 10 Mile Road in Warren. Will send your message on to another family member of ours who may be able to tell you more.

It's been awhile. Haven't heard a thing. I did recently find a grave in Mt. Olivet that is part of my family and her name was Augusta Budnik Goike daughter of Michael Budnik and Mary Kotlowski. She had Budnik children AND Goike children (don't know if the Budnik line were legit or not). Her husband was Joseph Goike who made Goike's Kashub Snuff in Detroit. I believe Joseph Goike is the brother of my Anthony (Anton) Goike who is buried in Section 33 of Mt. Olivet with the Kreft family. I also believe these people descend possibly from a Jacob Goike and Marianna (based on listings in the 1890 Detroit directory.

PS: I have been told repeatedly that the Goike's who own the farm in Washington Twp. are directly related to the Kreft family and there is only one way they can be related; that would be through my great grandfather's sister, Anastazia (called Anna) Kreft b. 1874 in Germany.

I have just found a photograph of Steven Goike and his sonJoseph with one unnamed. Steven is quite old. Photo taken about 1916. He is holding his grandson, Owen Goike. Also have Joseph with wife, Augusta Budnik Goike in Detroit. These were sent to me in 1995 by Stuart Goike of Gross Pte. Shores, MI.

Linda,

My husband's side of the family is related to the Budnick/Goike's you mentioned. He is descended from Augusta Lesnau (Lesnoff) who married August Budnick and had approx 8 children, most surviving into adulthood. After August died in 1915, she then married Joseph Goike and had 3 children with him which only one survived.

My husband is descended from a dtr of Augusta and August Budnick, but I do have information on the Goikes as well. It would be too long to list on the message board.

I would like to share information with you if you coudl contact me offlist at digirl6@yahoo.com

Do you know of a Verlaine and Stewart Goike?? (her sister was Jane Knapp) They had one child, John Goike, he had 2 kids, me and my sister. On this June 19th will be 30 years ago he passed away. Obviously I have not one person to give me any family facts. I have a jar of the Goike's Kashub Stuff from John A Goike's business...or was it Joseph and his dad was John?

Are you one of the Goike's Kashub Snuff family?

You can go to http://www.waynecountylandrecords.com and search for the name "GOIKE". I have seen the corporate records listed there for the snuff company being sold. It will list John or Joseph.

There was another John Goike who was born in Germany in 1829 and died in 1892 who was your great great grandfather.

Go to seekingmichigan.com and check for his death certificate.
