Goheen Family Reunion Pictures
Hi All. I have scanned a large picture of the 1956 Goheen Family Reunion in Midhurst Park, Ont. I also have various pictures of the 1961 Goheen Reunion in Gladwin Mi. If anyone would like me to email any of this to them please let me know. I am interested in identifying the people in the picture for my genealogy. Thanks! Kristie Pallas

Re: Goheen Family Reunion Pictures
Hi Kristi, I attended most of the Goheen Reunions in Ontario from 1954 onwards and a couple in Michigan. I believe I can identify most of the people in your 1956 photo. I also have a copy of that panoramic photo, as well as several others. Try e-mailing your scan to me, and I'll try to provide you with a chart of the names. It just happens to be St. Patrick's Day, and so, may I greet all our Goheen cousins with a hearty Irish greeting! This is appropriate inasmuch as while the name in France was probably spelled Gohin or Gouin, as French Huguenots, they migrated to the British Isles in the early 1600's. The traditions handed down in our family include the story of members of one family being shipwrecked in the Irish Sea while returning to England later in the 17th century. Two brothers were rescued by a ship of settlers who brought them to Pennsylvania. Their name was then spelled as it sounded to English speaking ears - "Goheen". There still are Gohins and Gouins in France, Guiheens in Ireland, but it seems any Goheens in the Old World are descended from the early Pennsylvanians who were spelled GOHEEN. And so, a hearty St. Patrick's Day greeting to all! Cousin Al.

I would be very grateful if you would send me copies of both. I know my uncle Ken and his father George were in the 1956 picture.

Re: Goheen Family Reunion Pictures
Hello,
Are you speaking of a George K. Goheen? This is the father of my great grandmother Matilda "Tilly" Ann Goheen and I'm having a hard time getting any information on them. George K. Goheen b. abt. 1831-1834 PA and is listed on the 1870 US Federal Census. His daughter my grandmother is also listed as age 4 b. 1865 Missouri.
Thank you!

Re: Goheen Family Reunion Pictures
Very Interestin Al,
I had assumed that since my Great Grandmother Matilda A. (Tilly) Goheen's father George K. Goheen, b. 1837-38 was born in Pennsylvania, and since my grandmother "Tilly" married a German Descendent that the Goheen's must be PA Dutch. Thank you for the oral history on your Goheen's.
Diann
Surnames I am interested in are Bowles, Boles, Carson, Cain, Conner, Cooper, Dittemore, Gabbard, Goheen, Kimbro, Kimbrough, Lick, Lower, Sutton

I have to apologize to anyone that receives the prior post with all of the surnames in it. I've been told that this is incorrect procedure and that it will cause a lot of wasted time for researchers.
Again, my apologies.
