Some information about the Gogarty family in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Patrick Gogarty died in Windsor Locks on 1/5/1890 at the age of 73. He lived on Oak Street in Windsor Locks. A History of the Catholic Church of Connecticut published around 1900 lists him and five others as instrumental in the establishment of St. Mary's Church in town. His occupation is listed as a laborer. He married Anna Flood, also of Ireland.
He appears to still have been in Ireland in 1846 when a son Thomas F. Gogarty was born on 12/21/46. I reach that conclusion because Thomas's children list their father's birthplace as Ireland.
Thomas married Ellen Kelly of Ireland. They had at least four children, a stillborn female delivered on 4/23/1892; Matthew J. Gogarty, who died of meningitis on 6/8/1892 at the age of five (what a horrible year for this poor family); Frank Gogarty, a laborer born in 1876 who died at the age of 65 on 2/23/1941 at The Little Sisters of the Poor Hospital in New Haven; and Katherine I. Gogerty who married James Gagel on 6/28/1922 at the age of 43.
Hope the information is helpful.

Hello! My Name is Annemarie Gagel-Weers. Katherine I. Gogarty married my (widowed) Grandfather James M. Gagel in 1922. My Grampa Gagel's first wife, and the biological mother to her and James Gagel only child (my dad, Robert J. Gagel), died in the Flu Epidemic in 1921. Her name was Jennie. My dad, only 18 Months old at the time Jennie died, was placed in a boy's boarding school, St. Agnes, by my Grampa Gagel and where Katherine Gogarty was a nurse. She immediately loved my dad as her own and her and my Grandfather fell in love and were married in 1922. They had children with each other. Katherine was a wonderful mom to my dad. He adored her so much that when he married my mother in 1946, on their Marriage Certificate, under "Mother's Name", my dad wrote Katherine Gogarty Gagel instead of the name of his biological mother. My Mom and Dad (who are still alive as I write this - October 5, 2007) are still alive and married (61 years) and living in Michigan. Mom is 91 and dad is 87. They had four children together. Dad still speaks lovingly of Katherine, his Mom.
