Robert,
The informaiton that I have on this Goffinet family came from Sue Yamtich. I don't have anything on your mother's family. If you can give me that information I would love it. The site that I got my information from was http://user.ctlnet.com/dap113/leopoldcWC_IDX/IDX001.htm#Mart...
It is called Leopold Connections. It is a great site put together by a lot of great people. The only thing is that the one's that have put the site together only have the information that they have. I will follow up later....Talk to you soon.

I believe we are all related. My grandmother was Theresa Mary Goffinet born 8-13-1875 in Leopold,IN.Married Joseph Longly in IN on 10-18-1892.She died in Winter,WI. She had a brother Clarence I believe born in 1879 and married Ellen they had children named Victor, Minnie, Bessie, Theodore, Doris and Willard.Theresa also had a sister named Maggie-I have no info on her yet. I am brand new to this and having alot of trouble putting dates and locations together.Theresa's parents were Adolph Goffinet born in 1849 or 1843 and Mary Josephine Rhodes born in 1854 in Belgium. On Adolph's family side I am seeing names like John, Mary Ponsard, Catherine. Another words...I am lost.If anyone could help me I would love it.

I just got an email from someone who told me there were Lalliers in Davis county, New York. Try the town Croghan. And try the Lallier message board. I was told that Nicolo had 12 children and came here in the mid 1800. He married Margaret Kloster. Their Nicolas was called "Father" Lallier as he helped to start the Catholic church in that area.
I am a Laljer descendant and have been told my grandmother Anna Elizabeth Layer/Laljer and her father Peter Laljer b 1850 were decendants of a Lallier. I have some family info for them after they had Anna but not before. I too am looking for info.
I have some photos that might Laljers. They are very old. Early 1900. ShirleyDees99@myfamily.com

I am a daughter of a Goffinet, born in Neufchateau Belgium. My mother recently gave me a newspaper article of a Goffinet family coming to Leopold Indiana, founding the town. I am researching my mother's side...her mother, Clementine Villance was married to Auguste Goffinet. I am wondering if we are related.

Anita,
In my opinion we are probably related. The Goffinet side of my family is quite large. The Goffinets had many children. I guess what we would have to do is find where and how we are related. Does your mother have any information past her parents? Does your grandparents have any information? Does any of your "older" relatives have any information? The reason I'm asking these questions is because it's easier to start as far back as you can then work forward to you. If that makes any sense. I wish I could help you more then what I have here. You can personally email me at QTPIE97173@aol.com and maybe we can figure out exactly IF we are related.

Hi Jean:

Thanks for the response. My mother is 88 and my grandparents on her side died in the 1950's I think. I just contacted my cousin in France. He mother was my mother's sister. He may have more information on great grandparents and other family. I, too, think we could be related. I'll let you know what I find out. I'll also talk to my mother and see if she can give me any more information. Thanks.

Hi:

I just learned that my great grandmother Catherine not sure of spelling of last name Carnet or Carvey was born in 1842. My grandmother, Clementine Goffinet (nee Villance) was born 12/5/1881 in Longlier Belgium. My grandfather Auguste, born in 1874.
