Yes Robert Eric is definitely a family name. It was my fathers name also. My brother's middle name is Robert. My son's middle name is also Robert as is my nephew's, so Robert E Goffin's name from England continues on across the Atlantic several generations later. It's wonderful!

I saw your post of the 24th April - I am the great great grand daughter of
Robert E.H. Goffin the headmaster. My great great aunt known as Daisy was his daughter Katharine Marguerite who read Classics at cambridge (they didn't
give women degrees until 1946) - she married George Bartlett her father's best friend - a lawyer and number two at the Duchy of Cornwall - they ended up in E.Sussex and she left the cottage they built to Hurstpierpoint School - whereby hangs a tale. My maternal grandmother Leonora Goffin was his grand daughter -she died rather young of ms. just before the war. Her
daughter, my mother was a cousin of Cora Goffin and also of Do nald Braggins
- Daisy's brother Romeril also a lawyer and a QC to boot died in Switzerland
of TB at a time when rest and a good climate were the only help. I have a telephone number in France and if you ring me or e-mail your number I can
call you - since worldwide calls are included in my 'forfait'. It is 0033 632 056 82- Look forward to hearing from you - incidentally you still have vague
cousins in Belgium where the family came from to teach lace making in Essex.Sincerely Yve Dyson.
