When you mention 'back to Malachi b. 1781' is that malachi goff or joiner? Malachi goff, b. ca1770s & lived ca1810-46 nr Dexter in Laurens, is my ancestor.
I'm increasingly wondering if Malachi goff & William goff r close relatives?
Both lived in Laurens tho opposite ends. Wm's brother? Samuel i think settled in Irwin co GA & his descendants seem to marry neighbors/relatives of Malachi goff's"GAUGHF" descendants who settled in Worth co - which is close to Irwin.
IF I understand correctly, Wm & saml r both sons of Dempsey goff of duplin co NC - but I am uncertain as to parents of Malachi goff.
