I'm looking for information on my ancestor Frances Ruth Godber (Fanny), she was born around 1830 in England. I cannot find any information on when she immigrated to the United States or on her family in England. She married Joseph Henry Winans from Newark, NJ.

Greetings!
I'm not sure if I can add anything to what you know about the Clemens & Godber families, but as a descendant of Benjamin Clemens of Newark, NJ & of Fannie Godber (father Thomas),I have access to photo albums, an album of clippings kept by B. Clemen's daughter and other info on the Price & Winans families of Illinois.
The Clemens & Godber families have been difficult to track. It would be great to connect with other researchers especially a fellow Minnesotan.
Best regards, Beth Plaetzer Rochester, MN

My grandmother Dorothy is a Winans. Frances Ruth Godber would be her great grandmother, and we're trying to find information on her for Dorothy's 95th birthday this summer. I'd appreciate any information you have and I'll can add you to my Winans' picture file on picasa.

Hmmmm. Where to begin?
From Frances/Fannie/Fanny (Godber) Winans, my line descends to Harriet (Clemens) Winans, to Harriet "Lida" (Winans) Price,to Zella Elizabeth (Price) Dutton to Mary Frances (Dutton) Hammer to myself, Beth J.(Hammer) Plaetzer.
Does this sound like your grandmother's family? I'm happy to share what I can, especially to celebrate a 95th birthday, but it would really help to get a sense of what you already know about Frances and about the Winans/Clemens families of NJ & Illinois (plus Rob. Clemens of Iowa). Perhaps we could exchange family data sheets?
Sincerely, Beth Plaeter
