Hi, I am hoping someone has some information on this family.
Pleasant "Cotton" Godbee born abt. 1826 wife Mahala Godbee born abt. 1822. I dont know Mahala's maiden name.
Children:
Virginia 1843 Who did Virginia marry? Was it a Hamans?
James W. 1844
Texanna Averleid 1845
Ann Verleid 1847
Mary L. 1852 - 1920 married John Frazier
Jane 1856
John Pleasant 1856-1934 buried in Louisville, Ga Cemetery.

Mary L. Godbee Frazier Death Certificate # 33180 list her parents as Clark Godfrey and mother Marietta Godfrey but when you look at the death certificate closely you can make out it is Godbee instead of Godfrey. Her informant was (Joseph) Elmore Frazier her son gave the information. The Death Certificate list John Frazier as her husband. Burial in the Godbee Cemetery. Does this mean her fathers name was Clark Godbee and mother Marietta Godbee? I cant find anything on a Clark Godbee.

I want to know about John Frazier also that was married to Mary L. Godbee and when he died. Where is he buried? Some has his father as Henry Frazier but I cant prove that. My grandmother used to mention her family came from South Carolina. Her father was Joseph Elmore Frazier and mother Eliza "Lizza" Lynch Frazier. I know Eliza was born in Edisto, Orangeburg, South Carolina. I cant find a death date for her other than Joseph is widowed in 1920 age 36 and Mary Lee Frazier the last born daughter was born in South Carolina in the Census. Did Eliza passed away shortly after giving birth and was living with her parents Jake and Hattie Lynch that was living in South Carolina.

Pleasant "Cotton" Godbee I do not have a death date nor where he is buried. Does anyone know if this was his true name or did he go by something else? Some also think his father was Alfred Arnold Godbee and I cant prove that either. If anyone knows any further information on Pleasant Cotton Godbee and John Frazier I would appreciate it greatly. I've searched the newspaper archives and came up empty handed.

Pleasant is listed in the 1850 Census, Dist. 68 Burke, Georgia with his family.
Thanks so much.
