Re: Joseph Godard dit Lapointe, 1851 Census
Possibility, this Godard dit Lapointe family may also be in Terrebonne in 1851 as their son lists his place of birth as Ste.Therese and he was born ~1846-1847.

Joseph Godard dit Lapointe, 1851 Census
If anyone has access to Quebec census, would you consider doing a lookup? I am looking for the family of Joseph Godard dit Lapointe married to Angelique/Julie Payette dit St.Amour. At the marriage of their son,Joseph Godard dit Lapointe Jr. to Pelagie Daragon dit Lafrance on 3-3-1851 at St.Andre....Joseph's parents are listed as Joseph Godard dit Lapointe and Angelique Payette dit St.Amour....FROM CHATHAM! I am assuming this is Chatham Township in Argenteuil I believe. Joseph Sr.and Angelique are NOT in St.Andre in 1851,although their son is. Could you please check for Joseph Sr. for me in Chatham in Argenteuil in 1851....wife would go by Julie or Angelique hopefully, and I am dearly hoping there will be a Tennise/Stanislas/Athenesa/Dennis as one of their children about 4-6 yrs.old. There should be several other children. If we can find this....I think I can solve my geneological dilemma!
Many thanks and have a good day. Michelle

Re: Joseph Godard dit Lapointe, 1851 Census
I have managed to trace my Godard line. I am not familiar with any McCutcheon's. I guess the census for 1851 for this area of Quebec was destroyed by a fire and so some mysteries will remain unanswered. My Godard's migrate to Finch,Stormont County,Ontario in the 1850's. Any chance your Godard's moved there as well? Other Godard's also in nearby Embrun,Cambridge,Moosecreek and Clarence, Ontario. There are alot of Scottish settlers in this area of Ontario as well. You might want to check out Stormont County as well as Prescott,Russell and Glengarry Counties in Ontario.

Re: Joseph Godard dit Lapointe, 1851 Census
I am beginning a genealogy search, specifically in regards to metis status of grandmother, Mccutcheon married to goddard. Her mother was Lebreque, her grandmother was a Nadeau.

Re: Joseph Godard dit Lapointe, 1851 Census
When I was a kid there were Godards living in Casselman which is about 10 miles from Moosecreek. Mrs Godard was a good friend of my grandmother's. My grandmother had once lived in Moosecreek so they may have met there. Mr and Mrs Godard would be buried in Casselman now. They had children.
