Hi, My Grandmother was Emma Gochey b.1875/
80 in Formosa Canada, She married a Joseph
Anstett and they moved to Michigan. I really
don't know anything on this family, the
Anstett family tree was put into a book a few
years back, but I know nothing about them
except that she was french, and I do have
a couple of pictures of her. She died in 1834
or 35 of diebeties. Thanks, I would like any
information on this family I could get.

Hi Virgil,
My grandmother Emma married a Joseph Anstett
he was from Canada and she was French Canada
-ian. She died in 1935 from Diabetes. She
never would let anyone give her a shot for
it so she died. She was not very old. Grandpa
was born in 1876. I'm not sure when she was
born, but they were married by 1903, because
they moved from Formosa Ont. to Gaylord
Mich in that year. So I think she was in her
40's when she died. She is buried in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery on the East side of Detroit.
If you need the specific dates let me know
and I can get them. Thanks and keep me
advised on your findings. My Mother was
Joseph and Emma's 7th child. She married Earl
Whitlock in 1933.

My grandfather Edward M. Gouchie was born
and lived in Cleveland, New York and later
Sherrill NY. I found from the 1880 ceusus
that his father was David Gochie born in
Canada and his mother Margret born in
Mass. Listed also were his brothers Frank,
John and David Jr and sisters Emma and
Maggie. I am interested in any information
about the family origins in Canada and
where they might have lived in Mass

I'm not sure I have the right info for you but Gochee is not a very common name. I have a book that starts with Joseph Gauthier from Three Rivers Quebec, Canada he moved a bit and setteled in Barnet, Vermont in 1867 the name was changed to Gochee by the local school teacher (there's an interesting story there) some of the children took the new spelling some didn't. My great grandfather, Peter Ramie Gochee, was one that did. Please feel free to e-mail me if this is who you are refering to I'd be glad to help.

Hi Donna,

Joseph Gauthier was my GreatGreatGrandfather he was from Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada he settled in Monroe, N.H.; also lived in Waterford; then moved to Barnet, Vermont in 1867, living in "France" ( a settlement of the town). When His Wife Mary died, He rented his farm and moved to Burke. He then married Adie Counter of East Burke. I don't know if he had children with her or not. His father was also named Joseph Gauthier but I don't have any other info on him or his wife.

This is what I have:
Joseph Gauthier b:1822 d:7/30/1907 married Mary Goodchild b:? d: 4/21/1886 their children were:

Henry Joseph; unmarried; died Barnet 1874
Mary; died young; buried Stevens Cemetery
Julia; married Napolean Rancour of Littleton, N.H. Barnet 1884
Emma; married Moses Laundry, Barnet
Ella;twin to Emma; died in infancy
Oliver; married Susan Fisher of Danville
Peter Ramie, twin of Oliver born June 20,1860 Monroe, N.H.; married Jennie Livingston of Peacham, Vt.
Elizabeth; married Joseph Fenoff; married E.B. King of West Burke
George; married Lille Goslant of Barnet
Jane; married Napolean C. C. Paradie of Sherbrooke P.Q. 1859, Manchester N.H.
Aldan (Alex); died Barnet at age 14
John; married Dora Narcissos Judkins, Barnet

OK now -- this is my greatgrandfather

Peter Ramie and Jennie Livingston's children were: (all born in Barnet, Vt.)

They had three die in infancy
Elsie Mae; born April 1, 1895; died Dec. 4, 1972 married Ray Issac Pyle
Hazen Asa; born November 16, 1896; died April 11, 1980 married Emma Spring Allemann
Hale Peter; born June 26, 1896; married Cora Amelia Granum
Wendell Stafford; born June 10, 1900 married Mary Genevieve Georgana Blaine; married Dorothy Evelyn Peterson
Neal Dow; born January 25, 1902; Married Effie Elizabeth Abbe ( This was my Grandfather- Neal Dow Gochee Sr.)
Ruth Iva; born April 9, 1903 married John Fred Herpy
Wayne Livingston; born June 18, 1904
Harlan Joseph: born July 6, 1906

Hope this helps somehow.

Donna,

I meant to mention that the children of Joseph Gauthier and Mary Goodchild where all born with the last name Gauthier but when they moved to Barnet, VT. The school teacher there came up with the closest phonetic spelling of the french last name and tried to americanize it and came up with GOCHEE. Some of the children took the new name and some did not. I don't know which one's did or didn't except for Peter Ramie, because he was my great grandfather.
