All descendants of Philip & Susan Parish Crowder are cordially invited to attend a rededication ceremony of the Crowder Cemetery in Springfield, IL on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.

There will be a flag ceremony and local dignitaries have been invited to attend. Blake Brown has been working on cleaning up the Cemetery for his Eagle Scout Project. This includes replacing the old fencing and both signs, cleaning the gravestones and clearing away the brush. The Cemetery is located on Chatham Road across from the Illini Country Club & Golf Course in Leland Grove (inside Springfield).

Philip (Phillip) Crowder was born near Petersburg, Virginia on April 7, 1760. He volunteered to serve in the Revolutionary War in place of his brother, who had a family, and he was present at the surrender of Lord Cornwallis to George Washington at Yorktown in 1781.

Anyone descending from DANIEL GOBLE (7) and SITHA WALKER GOBLE has ties to the Crowders. Philip Crowder was Sitha Walker Goble’s maternal grandfather. Please make plans to attend this ceremony and to help us honor this Revolutionary War Patriot.
