Hi - any relation to Flora Amelia Goard? From a yard sale where I was buying picture frames I came across her certificate from the University of Minnesota, 1933 for B.S. degree. I also have some pics of the family - if you want these I'd be glad to send them to you for postage.

Hi Mary, Thank you for making contact, I dont have a Flora or Amelia Goard, there were several but not that many Goards in Cornwall 1900 period, any indications on photographs of where taken, I have reason to beleive that a Goard / Gourd may have left and went to USA for the Gold Rush some years earlier, but I have little info, any chance you can scan and send one of the pictures, I can then compare to what I have ?
Thanks for the thought.

I'll give it a try but I can't do it immediately - we've just moved and are trying to get our computer at home hooked back up. Will post a note when I have it scanned so you can tell me where to send it.

Mike My Uncle Frederick Stephen Goard did a lot of research on the family name and my Mother Violet Ethel Terry nee Goard took on the task after his death.Mother died October 2003. With the help of my Sister we are going to see if we can catalogue or file in some way her records. She had correspondence from America, Australia and Tasmania re the Goard name. I have just started entering the family details on to genesreunited.co.uk, my Sister has a lot more of the Goard paperwork which will help in tracing back even further.

Hi Katheryn, Thanks for your info, I am having some difficulty as th Goards / Gourds kept changing their spelling of name. 1837 they are in Roche,Cornwall,1863 St Anthony (Falmouth), then 1866 in Plymouth. I have an Hercules Goard in Plymouth, you mention Sanual- another name from the Bible, I can find a few Samuals in and around South East Corrnwall (Liskeard, etc) I have not yet found a positive link. I am sure something will turn up. Thanks again and Happy New Year and good hunting.
